Equivalent Microsoft Money Sur Mac
I have been looking for quite a while for an alternative to Quicken, partly out of annoyance with Intuit (the TurboTax license enforcement issue last year) and partly because Quicken 2000 is the last program I have that requires Classic. So far the search has turned out to be a big waste of time.
I've looked at least briefly at about 18 freeware and shareware apps. My main requirements are that it import QIF files, and if it's not a well-established program like gnucash, it must also export them. It would be crazy to commit all my data to a program that might not be supported in the future if there is no good way to get the data out. Otherwise a rather minimal feature set would suffice. I just maintain transaction registers; I don't print checks or do on-line banking.
About half the apps either don't to QIF import/export or have problems doing it: for example, crash or do something stupid if a category field is empty. Some have such terrible user feedback that I didn't bother trying them out. All the others I tried exhibited significant bugs in just a few minutes of testing, and most had significant UI issues as well. Gnucash I didn't try because I couldn't find any installation instructions for OS X, and my last attempt at compiling a big open-source project ended badly (someone had just checked in a fatal bug). Also I'm not sure I want to switch over to double-entry bookkeeping.
That leaves Moneydance, which I haven't demoed yet (though I suspect it may also have trouble with null categories); Liquid Ledger, which is relatively expensive and does double-entry; or upgrading--if that's the right term--to Quicken 2004. Classic boots really fast on my new PowerBook, so I'm sticking with Quicken 2000 for now. For what it's worth, it's never crashed on me or corrupted my data, but I use only a tiny subset of its features.

Please recommend an accounting program that is similar to Money 2004 or thereabouts. I do not do online banking and do not need anything that will do any downloading, etc. I still like paper for that.
I do like the Money feature that automatically prints out the report at the end of the year showing a synopsis of taxable income, deductions, etc.
Presently I use MYOB for my business. It is much more advanced than Money but do not know if it generates the reports at the end of the year for tax deductions, etc.
